I. Rates and Information for Interpreting Assignments

1. Interpreting Fees per Hour (Standard Rate)

The following billing rates apply for interpreting assignments:

  • Per hour CHF 120.00
  • From 5 hours onward, per hour CHF 115.00

These rates apply to assignments taking place Monday–Friday between 08:00 and 18:00. Each hour started is billed in full. Assignment time is rounded to the nearest quarter-hour; any additional partial quarter-hour is rounded up and billed as a full 15 minutes.

2. Surcharges

Instead of the standard rate in § 1, we apply a 50 % surcharge for the following assignments:

  • Emergency assignments taking place within 24 hours of the order being placed
  • Evening assignments between 18:00 and 23:00, and any assignments on Saturday

This 50 % surcharge also applies to travel-time compensation under § 6.

3. No-Show / Unused Time

Time that has been booked but not used will still be charged.

4. Waiting Time

If waiting time is not caused by the interpreter, billing is based on the originally booked start time. Any waiting during the assignment not caused by the interpreter is billed as the entire booked or actual presence time.

5. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations by the client must be notified at least 48 hours in advance during our office hours (Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.). Otherwise, the booked time will be charged. Travel-time compensation under § 6 and travel & meal expenses under § 7 are not charged—unless the interpreter has already begun traveling to the assignment location.

6. Travel-Time Compensation

If the round-trip travel time (home, assignment, home) is under 1 hour, no travel-time compensation applies. For each additional hour, we charge CHF 120.00.

Travel-time is calculated door-to-door using the Swiss Federal Railways timetable or Google Maps.

7. Travel and Meal Expenses

We bill actual travel expenses (2nd-class public transport with half-fare card or CHF 0.75/km by car, with a flat rate of CHF 35.00 for up to 50 km by car).

For assignments longer than 4 hours, a meal allowance of CHF 25.00 applies. For full-day assignments (8 hours or more), the meal allowance is CHF 50.00.

8. Invoicing

We reserve the right to require advance payment.

II. Rates and Information for Translations

We prepare binding quotes only after reviewing the documents to be translated. Translation prices depend on volume, difficulty, area of specialty, language pair, intended use, and delivery deadlines.

1. Translation

We charge CHF 5.00 per translated line.

2. Surcharges

Additional fees may apply for:

  • Express delivery (up to 50 %, depending on urgency)
  • Work required on Saturdays (up to 50 %)

Express delivery depends on interpreter/translator availability.

3. Additional Services Related to Translation

Additional services—such as special formatting, data conversion, desktop publishing, or proofreading—are billed at CHF 120.00 per hour.

These services must be requested in advance and depend on interpreter/translator availability.

4. Invoicing

We reserve the right to require advance payment.

Our General Terms and Conditions (GTC) also apply.
